decisions made

This week has brought quite a bit of change. And I am not someone who normally likes change, but this time I have welcomed and accepted the changes.

Now, I'm not talking about the election, although this one certainly was historic and Obama's whole campaign was based on a nation that was ready for change. What I'm talking about is a lot closer to home. It is certainly more personal.

Here I am with my nephew Payden.

My husband and I have decided to persue an adoption.

I explained a couple of months ago that the Lord had not led us to the point where we were ready to stop trying to get pregnant, and persue a child another way. But it seems this last couple months of disappointment and a heartfelt discussion with my husband, we have made a prayerful decision.

I know it won't be easy. This much I know. But there is a certain amount of relief that comes with making a decision and progressing toward that goal. And we are blessed to be surrounded by people that have adopted both internationally and domestically who can offer support and advice.

And I know I have you all, who will offer up prayers and whatever advice you have. I know some of you have adopted, and I have read your stories online. Feel free to email and refer your adoption agency or counselor. At this point we're researching all our options, so any help anyone can provide would be welcomed.

Thank you for sharing these past couple of months with me. While I was looking forward to sharing a pregnancy with you, now I can share my "paper pregnancy." Keep us in your prayers.

My co-worker was not able to have children and they waited to long until adoption was too legally troublesome for them because of their age. She is highly disappointed she didn't pursue the adoption route. Good Luck & God Bless!

A close friend has adopted domestically. They are currently trying to pursue another child. Another friend is in the process of an international adoption. To me, their families are both so special and I cannot imagine them any other way.

While my friends adopted domestically, their daughter has strong Asian characteristics, but to me, she just looks like their daughter. I know your decision is not one taken lightly. There will be ups and downs, but you will be holding a sweet baby in the end and you will forget all of the trouble you had to endure. You will know that the child you are holding is, without a doubt, the one that God has destined for you all along. I'll keep you in my prayers as you begin this journey. My friends used an agency in CA and we are in AL, they were really pleased with them if you would like the info. --Brandi

I am crying tears of joy for you! I am soooo happy for you and can see the joy on your face with this decision.

Bethany is great but we couldn't use them as they weren't in our state. We used Adoption Alliance who is based out of San Antonio Texas. Our international agency is called European Adoption Consultants or EAC. It's founder started the agency to prevent others from going through the pain she did during her first few attempts at adoption. They were wonderful and so compassionate.

I would be happy to give you any and all their contact info. Let me know. Most important, do your research and be honest about what situation you can handle. If you choose international that may require one or more trips from you and your husband. It may also mean meeting your child and then leaving them for 1 or more months until a court date is set by the government. If you choose domestic my advice would be to ask to adopt a child who's parent's rights have already been revoked or they have signed them away. The state of NV law is that once an adoption is final the biological parent can't change their minds. This was a huge peace of mind for us. We didn't want to go into a custody battle down the road. I've given you my phone number before. The offer still stands for you to call any time for any reason. I am sooooooo happy for you all. You have been on my heart so much more lately and something kept telling me there was going to be news of a child from you. Even before I opened this email. HONEST!!!! I think this is why I got so emotional when reading your words. LET THE PAPERWORK PREGNANCY BEGIN!

One of our best friends and his wife adopted both of their children, who are now 15 and 11. They are two of the best parents with two of the most well-adjusted kids I've ever seen. They did not go overseas, but adopted while living in Kentucky. I was quite a process but one that they have never regretted!

As I've said earlier, God gave you the desire to be a mother - He will not deny you the desire - He longs to give good gifts to His children. May the LORD bless you as you pursue this path to motherhood (and fatherhood). You are not alone, and you are loved by One who loves completely and totally and in a way that we can only glimpse this side of Heaven.

OK, first of all, I know how you voted if you watch Colbert. (And you know how to pronounce it!)

Second, I am so sorry about your friend. (This one should have been first, I know - I'm sorry.) I cannot imagine - I can only offer you my prayers for peace, strength, and perhaps understanding...

Finally, Sissy --- HOORAY! I cannot wait to see the photo of you with YOUR little bundle. May God bless your journey. And I know there will come a day when you will see more clearly how/why He brought you through this.

Hurray! I'm so excited for you and the next step of your journey. I'm praying God's blessings every step of the way. I have friends who have success adopting internationally, from Korea, and are on their third adoption. I'd be happy to refer you to them if you are interested in that option. Thank you for sharing your news with us and know that there are lots of online buddies who look forward to hearing about your journey. We wish you the bery best!
